20th Anniversary of IJEP - CALL FOR PAPERS – 2026

Critical Education, Eco-Pedagogy, and the Possibilities Beyond Education

As the International Journal of Educational Policies (IJEP) enters its 20th year, we invite contributions that critically reflect on education as a field of struggle, solidarity, and freedom—both within and beyond formal educational institutions.

Over the past two decades, critical education has expanded beyond schools and universities, informing struggles in ecological movements, labor organizations, feminist and de-colonial practices, community-based learning, and various forms of political and cultural resistance. At the same time, eco-pedagogy has emerged as a vital framework for rethinking education in the context of the climate crisis, environmental injustice, and the commodification of life itself.

For its 2026 anniversary issues, IJEP particularly welcomes manuscripts that explore:

  • Critical education and eco-pedagogy as political and ethical practices
  • The use and transformation of critical pedagogy outside formal education
  • Education, ecology, and climate justice
  • Knowledge production, resistance, and solidarity in non-school settings
  • Education in social movements, grassroots initiatives, and collective struggles
  • Re-reading critical educational theories in the context of contemporary crises
  • Critical art studies
  • Critical perspectives in special education.

We encourage theoretical, empirical, and reflective contributions that interrogate the boundaries of education, challenge dominant policy frameworks, and articulate emancipatory possibilities grounded in collective experience.

In marking its 20th year, IJEP reaffirms its commitment to critical scholarship that does not merely interpret the world, but seeks to transform it.

All submissions are subject to double-blind peer review. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the journal’s author guidelines, which can be found on the journal’s website.

Schedule for Publication

Publication of Accepted Manuscripts: IJEP /Volume 20, Issues 1 and 2

Due date: June 30, 2026, for the first issue and September 10, 2026, for the second issue.

Notification of Evaluation: Approximately two months after submission.

Finalization and Publication of Accepted Papers are on September 30, 2026 (Vol 20, Issue 1) and on December 15, 2026. (Vol. 20, Issue-2).

Submissions of the full-length paper should be approximately 6000-7000 words. Submission languages can be English or Turkish. Authors can submit the manuscript electronically at http://ojs.ijep.info through registration as an author. It is free. Detailed evaluations of peer reviews will be shared with the authors. Depending on the outcome of the blind peer reviews, the Publication Board of the IJEP will decide on the final publication.
